I don't even know where to begin with the Crows Nest Primitive Shoppe.  Everytime I visit their website, I want one of everything!

The Crows Nest truly is a one stop shoppe for all things primitive.  They carry candles, bath n body products, primitive decor, tart warmers, curtains, pottery, hand towels and even catnip kitty beds.  What makes their items unique is the fact that they contain herbs grown from their own herb farm!  Everything is handcrafted too.

Andrea is the owner of the Crows Nest Primitive Shoppe.  I recently sent her some interview questions to give us a little more insight into her shoppe.  I love getting to know business owners on a more personal level.  It makes me feel more connected to the handmade market and it seems to make the world a little smaller place.  You can read the awesome interview HERE.

I'm so excited to be doing a Rocky Corner Soapworks giveaway! 

This company has been in the Out Of The Box Sampler every month since late 2009.  Everytime their samples arrive here, they never cease to amaze me with what they send in.  This month, they are the Box Sponsor for our July, Summer Beach Party themed, sampler boxes at Out Of The Box Sampler.  You will be so spoiled with full size bars in Fresh Honeydew (my favorite), Tranquility with a Twist, and Wallis Sands Sea Spray Soaps.   Every single box in July will get one!!!  Just look at how gorgeous and refreshing this soap is!

Here's a little of the interview I did with Karen, the owner of Rocky Corner Soapworks: 

How long have you been in business?

I researched, studied and made raw materials lists about seven years ago. I was ready to take the plunge when I literally took a plunge, down a flight of stairs and broke my leg. All thoughts of soapmaking flew out the window, replaced with surgeries and a lengthy rehab. Two years ago the timing seemed right, the kids were older, and the family support was terrific!

What prompted you to go into business?

It started out as a hobby and I swiftly grew to love it, developing itself into a family business in no time. The whole process from start to finish is intriguing and satisfying... I also love the endless creative possibilities of using fragrances, colors and raw materials. It pleases me to see the beautiful finished products that soapmakers create.

How did you come up with the name for your business?

Our farm in Danville, NH (est. 1992) is named Rocky Corner Farm. It made sense that our soap business would be similarly named.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I've been an Executive Assistant for both a Fortune 500 Company and Governor Stephen Merrill during his Administration. I've homeschooled for the last 13 years :) I LOVE gardening! Everywhere you turn on our farm, we have lovely perennial beds from which we harvest and dry botanicals for use in our soaps.

Tell us a little about the products that you sell.

We primarily deal with all natural homemade soap, aka cold process soap, selling them by the bar and loaf. Listening to our customers drives what we produce and in recent months we've begun making bath bombs/bath fizzies. Rocky Corner Soapworks also carries a small selection of lip balms, shampoos and lotions. :)

Girls Like Trucks Giveaway

Do you have a little "tomboy" that lives at your house?  I only wish I did.  Having 4 boys makes me really miss not having a girl.  I'd even settle for no frilly dresses, lace and pretty pink stuff.  But I'm blessed with all boys so I just have to dream about all the cute things that are out there for little girls.
